Companies that are relatively young but are trading profitably and do not have sufficient assets to secure a conventional loan may be able to raise development funding from a range of potential lenders. As these loans may be unsecured, they will tend to command higher rates of interest than standard, secured loans since they are riskier for the lender.

Short Description: The Audi Design Foundation was an independent charity established in 1997 by Audi UK. Its aim was to encourage and empower designers by supporting and promoting designs that create a positive change in people's lives. The Foundation offered a wide range of opportunities to enable designers to progress innovative design and awarded over £650,000 in grants. In addition to our grants and awards programs, we've also been pleased to provide articles written by a broad range of business professionals. These include professional designers, design afficionados, marketing experts and - to provide a jolt of energy - motivational speakers, and even some leadership speakers. In addition to providing grants, the Foundation was responsible for several major awards programmes. The prestigious 'Audi Young Designer of the Year Award' gave students aged between 16-20 years the chance to showcase their talents and launch their careers in the design industry. A second national programme, the 'Audi Innovation Awards' focused on the work of design students aged between 11-14 years and was made up of a series of curriculum-based design challenges. 2004 saw the launch of 'Designs of Substance', a widely acclaimed global initiative that saw final year students from Brunel University working to improve the quality of life for communities in the favelas (shanty towns) of Rio de Janeiro. Three universities took part in the 2005 initiative; Brunel, Ravensbourne and Nottingham Trent. The focus that year was on Khayelitsha, a township near Cape Town in South Africa. The three winning students visited the community in South Africa that would potentially benefit from their designs. In 2007, the event was even bigger than ever; five universities (Kingston, Ravensbourne, Middlesex, Lincoln and Nottingham Trent) took part and UNICEF helped us to identify the community who set the briefs and greatly assisted with communications between the UK and South Africa. After entering its tenth anniversary year, the Foundation embraced new themes around sustainable and inclusive design. This website now focuses on the appreciation of design and all the ways it is seen and used in our daily lives. In addition to our articles, readers may also use this website to search documents and download ebooks for free.

Short Description: Tudor doesn’t have specific funding programmes. Our focus is on smaller forward-looking groups, led by capable and committed people. Some of the other characteristics we are looking for include:
Organisations working directly with people who are at the margins of society
A focus on building stronger communities by overcoming isolation and fragmentation and encouraging inclusion, connection and integration Organisations which are embedded in their community and which can identify and channel the potential within that community – whether the local area or a ‘community of interest’ Organisations which can demonstrate that they listen to and are responsive to their users
Organisations which are thoughtful in their use of resources and which foster community resilience in the face of environmental, economic or social change We don’t expect every application to demonstrate all these characteristics: we are however looking for a mix of such qualities when we assess a first-stage proposal. We are more likely to fund groups with an annual turnover of less than £1 million. However, we sometimes make grants to larger groups, particularly for work which could be influential or which a smaller organisation would not have the capacity to deliver. Please call us on 020 7727 8522 if you are from a larger organisation and would like to discuss making an application.

We are mainly run by volunteers, so our costs are low. It doesn’t matter if the idea is tried and tested in other parts of the country. If it is new for this community then we are interested in hearing about it. We will also sometimes help established institutions that are under threat.
